Field Hockey: 3 stars from West Essex’s G2 title win over Point Pleasant Boro

West Essex, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, earned a 2-0 win over No. 16 Point Pleasant Boro in the NJSIAA Group 2 championship game in Bordentown.
West Essex (22-3) finished the year with its 22nd state championship in program history, and its sixth Group 2 title in a row.

Delaney Farrell, West Essex, Fr.
The freshman came through in the biggest game of her career to date. With the game scoreless after halftime, she broke the deadlock with a goal with 8:54 to go in the third quarter off a feed from Sophia Sisco.
Ava Russo, West Essex, Sr.
Russo helped lead her team defensively as it went completely unscored upon in five state tournament games. She also chipped in offensively, scoring the game’s second goal to give the team a key insurance marker as it protected its lead.
Claire Pausz, Point Pleasant Boro, Jr.
Pausz has been rock solid for her team in the cage all season and did so once again on Saturday. She made 10 saves, including several big ones late to keep her team in the game.
